Switching from 8.0 to 9.0
« on: May 13, 2003, 04:48:36 pm »

Hi everyone,
Downloaded the update from 8.0 to 9.0 today.  Thought I read in one of the threads here that those that bought a license for 8.0 before December 1st of 2002 could use 9.0 for free.  Was I mistaken in this thinking?  When I try to put in my install license it comes up with the error message, "You are restoring a version 8 license which needs to be upgraded."  Can you tell me what I am doing wrong so I can get this problem fixed?  Thanks much in advance.

Just wanted to add on here real fast that I have read all of the faqs I could find and looked through Interact pretty thoroughly.  Completely baffled by this problem.  Thanks again.

Well, I read over all of that info and as far as I can tell, I actually have to purchase the upgrade?  Is this the case?  Sorry to be a bother here, but I just can't see how to make it so I can get 9.0 for free.

Older licenses of 8 provide a free upgrade.  Newer 8.0 licenses don't, but it isn't much of a charge.

Well, my license is more than a year old.  How do I go about getting the free upgrade?    :-/

I hope this is in line with this thread.  I, too, am interested in upgrading from 8 to 9.  We purchased our licence late last year, but I can't remember when and the registration information  under help doesn't contain the purchase date.  When I went to the 9 upgrade instructions they tell me that I can't find out whether my upgrade is free or I have to pay a 20 dollar upgrade fee until I download 9 and commit to a purchase.  I would like to know whether my upgrade will be free or I will have to pay the upgrade fee before comitting to a download.  Can you help?  Thanks
