Convert format doesn't work
« on: March 08, 2008, 11:18:35 pm »

Hi,

First of all, thanks for making free MJ.  :)

I would like to convert the format to mp3 of some mp3 files inside the library, in order to lower the bitrate.
I select the files, and the execute the Tools | Advanced Tools | Convert Format menu option.
Then an empty message box with just the OK button appears and nothing happens.  This used to work in Media Center.

I'm using Windows XP home + SP2 and latest MJ 12.0.34

I have unchecked the "Omit conversions from the same file type" and now it complains of buying a license.  The problem is that the previous empty message box confused me.

Are there more missing sound features from MC?

My guess is that you have to buy the mp3 license.
I tried to convert some ape files to mp3 earlier, but it said that I didn't have a mp3 licence.
I bought it right away - and now it works like a charm.  ;)

Please try 12.0.35 from the top of this board.

You may have to uninstall/reinstall.  The encoder plug-in is $10.

I tried 12.0.35, it no longer recognised my iPod Nano (first gen), so... reverted to 34 and it worked fine. Might just be my iPod needing a reformat, who knows.

I guess my posts here were off topic... or something...
