Customize the Windows Media Center remote! Yes!
« on: March 31, 2008, 03:20:23 pm »

I finally found a way to completely customize the Windows Media Center remote:

http://melloware.com/products/intelliremote/

Great little program (although you have to register it for it to be useful).  Allows you to fully customize what the keys on your MCE remote do.  You can even have it call up Core functions in MC - everyone who's wanted to have the stupid green button pull up Theater View, now it's possible!  You can add shortcuts for all sorts of useful things and make full use of all those little buttons.  Wonderful in combination with a universal remote like my Sony AV3100.

Now if only MC had a core function for add to playing now... ;D

That's great....although I will say that I bought a Microsoft MC remote (only for the ir receiver) and I use a harmony 880 and set it up as a microsoft media centre remote...it's great.  I press guide and it cycles through all of the views...all of the commands are there really.  There may be a few I'm missing because I wasn't aware of them so this will help.

Oh, and did you have to install any MCE remote drivers?  It says that is a requirement and I did a quick search on the net and I have read that SP2 has the MCE remote drivers bundled with it.

Thanks.

First of all thanks for the props!

To answer some questions:

1. No you should not need any special replacement driver for XPSP2.  Some XPSP2 users need to install a Microsoft KB patch to get their remote to work but most shouldn't.  I use Vista and Intelliremote works with the standard Microsoft eHome driver out of the box.

2. If someone wants to create an MC12 profile for Intelliremote I would be more than happy to add it to the profiles on my main page and include it in the next release in the /profiles folder.

Thanks again for the kind words!  Glad I could make your MC lives better. :)

Forgot to mention it works with most flavors of Creative remotes too including Audigy and X-Fi.
