hi there, it has been 10 years ago i threw my last mobile away, but apparently i needed one again 
the good part is that it can play music. until now my only experience has been a philips mp3 player which works nice, but i want to get some music on this phone ofcource. now i have some questions.

when i connect the telephone it is picked up fine. i putted two records on it via a playlist. no problem, but when i click sync it always starts to resync them, what could i be doing wrong?

also, i get all the files on the phone in my sync view. i guess when i would delete the ones that are not in my playlist, all nokia ones, the phone will not work nicely anymore, right?

the phone is keeping some player stats, but mc does not pick them up when syncing, would it be possible though?

other people have experience with this telephone?

Sounds like you're close.   I'm not sure what the problem is.

Check where the files are going and then maybe add an entry in the pdt.xml file to change the locations if necessary.  It's here:
C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center 12\Data\Default Resources

thanks jim, i looked at it yesterday, and i did not manage, will look later again because now i maybe understand. i got it working now without the resyncs.

what i thank that happened is:
this phone had german language as default. without changing anything to the folders mc uploaded some files to the right location and wrote in the JRinfo file that it was in the music folder on the phone. but it was in musicdateien folder.
today i switched to dutch and that was when i noticed that the folder names were changing with the language. i changed the location in the options to the dutch name.. musicbestndn and started a new sync. and it seems to be working now.

i guess i have to change the default recources in a way that it only picks up the folder with the sounds and the images. guess i can find that. will it also change the location of the JRinfo file then?

have to play a bit more when i have some more time.

edit: that was to quick... now it wants to resync again.. grr... ill get it right. software is one thing. but phones...

ok. I'm a bit further. thought I'd report.
apparently unchecking 'get playstats from handheld on connect' seems to solve it.

when checked, in recheck sync it changes the name in the list from 'titel' to 'artist - track - titel', and does not recognise the track as already there, and it doubles all the files in the view (not on the phone). when unchecking 'get playstats' a resync in necesary but after that it remembers the name right.

hopes it makes sence.

Thanks for the running commentary.

In this line:

<Name>Nokia 6500c</Name>

The name must match the name Windows sees for the device.

I think you also need to restart MC.

i think i use the right name. didnt have much time to play anyfurther.

one question though. should it be possible for mc to get the play stats back from the nokia. because if not, i can stop trying.

You're probably out of luck with the play stats and ratings. The number of ways that devices store them seems limitless. We only pull play stats from iPods and some MTP devices that store them a certain way.
