Because of some networking issues, I need to avoid having big files in my user profile. ("Applications Data")

Right now, my library is happily where I want it on my local disk, but Media Center still is putting lots of data into my profile (the "thumbnails" directory is huge).

Is there a way of telling it to put all of the stuff that it normally puts in my user profile somewhere else?

From previous postings, I see that one approach to this is to switch to a "portable" installation. Is there a way to try this without doing a total uninstall - reinstall? (which maybe I should just do anyway)
