No I don't think so.

Say, I am searching all beatles songs in my collection and want to check their physical location. I get into folder view. I enter "beatles" as a search term. MC cleverly returns a virtual folder structure by showing only folders that contain "beatles". Beatiful!  8) However, each time I click on one of the virtual folders, the search term "beatles" is cleared I have to enter it again. :'(

Conducted a scientific user experiment on one subject. I got a little varience, but science agrees with me. Search terms should not be cleared after pane selections.

Note that, if I had selected "beatles" from artists filter pane, and then selected location pane, it works as I expected, except it is browsing, whereas I expect that browsing + search as described above to work similarly.

Yes It Is Irritating

I Would Like To See An Option For MC Never To Clear The Search Box.

I Think This Is Done So New Users Are Not Confused, Not Sure However

Clicking different pane values doesn't clear the search.

Are you using an old build, or talking about something other than the panes in library views?

Matt,
it is not clicking on different pane values. It happens when in pane thumbnail mode(does this have a different name?), you double-click on one of the aggregated groups. (if in folder view, it should show the subfolders, or otherwise it should go to the next pane filter). This action shouldn't reset the search filter.

Tested in build #490.

Tolga,

Are you speaking about the same issue that was discussed here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=44999.0

(Jim asked to start a new thread in the last post, so maybe this is the new thread.)

Alex,
it is related but it doesn't look like the same issue. In the example you described, clicking on album doesn't add new filters you expect. In the scenario I described, clicking on the stacked filter actually resets the search term, which relaxes the applied filter.
