double backslashes in file paths
« on: May 31, 2008, 03:41:39 pm »

I was wondering about the double backslashes (“\\”) in many file paths of my library (just before the filenames).
What does that mean and how can I get rid of them?
“Repair broken links” in the import options is checked and I run Auto-Import again, but those extra backslashes are still there…

Any idea?  :)

Do you mean the prefix for a UNC server address?
e.g.  \\server\share\path etc.
Or Microsoft's locator for a file?
e.g. file://drive\path etc.
Or something else?

Can you give an example.

I read his original post as though he's seeing something like this in his library:

drive:\directory\structure\\filename.mp3

such that there's an extra backslash right before the filename.

I know I've seen it in other instances, but I don't know what causes this.
