Sync on Windows Mobile doesn't work
« on: June 07, 2008, 03:11:52 pm »

Hello,

syncing on a Windows Mobile (HTC TyTNII, WinMobile 6.1) on a storage card doesn't work using Media Center 12.0.512. The first sync transfered the files all right (done with an earlier version of Media Center 12.0.4xx). The tags and album covers are there. Now when I try to sync, the existing music is not properly recognized and Media Center tries to sync the music again, which of curse fails. The Tags are there on the mobile device but not loisted in Media Center. Help!

Cheers

Anyone listening? There are quite a few posts concerning sync with Windows Mobile devices, so I think there really is a problem there! It's really annoying because sync is simply not possible anymore!!

OK - Me too.....I've just upgraded my I-Mate Ultimate 9502 with 4GB microSD card to WM6.1 and needed to re-sync.  The first sync was fine with MC12 showing all the relevant Meta Data for the tracks on the WM6.1 (eg Artist / Album / Ratings etc).  Unfortunaly on the next connection when MC12 reads what is on the WM6.1 device it appears to lose all the Meta Data (eg it looks like Leo's screen shot).  If you then try to Sync the same files MC will try (as MC thinks they are new files) but fails (as they are already on the WM6.1 device).

Thanks
Nathan

PS Had a log file and will post shortly.

I'm having the same kind of problems on my HTC Tilt.  I tried sticking my 8g micro into a USB adapter and it seemed to work.  Said it loaded all the files but when I move the card back to the phone, nothing was there.

Well, after my last attempt to sync, I cant even get activesync to work... it's like dead... changed the micro card and it's still dead. Tried to redetect - nothing... I'm pretty discouraged.  My wife is in the other room with her iTouch on iTunes just laughing at me.  I like MC, but right now it feels like an MG...

could be...
I seemed to syncing last night.  It ran for maybe 45 minutes and then said it was finished and disconnected.  I unpluged the HTC and checked the music folder.  I had 6 songs.  I plugged it back in and got nothing.  changed the usb cable, moved to the laptop, and finally tried my charger.  Nothing works.  So, I'm thinking the sync might have heated up the connections and damaged the device....
Could that be possible?

How do I check the port?

You could try the device on another PC.

I think I have a bad mini usb adapter.  I took it to ATT and they tinkered with it, so I'm about to try again...

Anybody from JRiver listening? I can't eally use my mobile device! I've been using Mediacenter for quite a while now, bought all the updates and I like it, but if this isn't fixed soon, I'll have to start looking for a replacement. What is really annoing, that n/o from JRiver is answering at all :-( Something like: Can't reproduce it, yes we know the problem and it's going to be fixed etc. *Nothing* This is extremely bad service!!!

Hi,

do you have the chance to test and/or reproduce the problem? Anything I can test and/or send in to find the cause?

Those of you having this problem could turn on handheld logging, then try to sync again.  Post the log file somewhere and place a link to it in a reply to this post.  Staff will then have something useful to go on.
In the meantime, if it cannot be duplicated on their test equipment, then nothing can be done to fix it.

I'm JRiver, but I don't know what the problem is.

Are you saying you cannot reproduce the problem, or that you don't understand what the problem is?

In this thread, there are two problems as far as I can see. LeoKurtz', and CrozNest's. The former problem is described quite thoroughly in this post and in the "Problems syncing wm6 device" posts. The latter looks like a HW problem.

Btw. The problem seems to be intermittent. I was not able to reproduce it now...

I don't see any posts providing a log file for the developers.
A log file will assist the development staff in determining if there is a bug, perhaps limited to specific hardware, that they can't reproduce.  It could also point to a hardware issue with a pc that's not caused by the MC software.
Simply posting "still happening" and "bump" posts isn't going to get it fixed.
Someone needs to post a logfile right after the problem happens and help the developers help you.

I am still struggling with this.  I did have a hardware problem as mentioned above but I have replaced my HTC 8925 with another identical phone except with WM 6.1.  I wiped the 8gb microsd and deleted all partnerships.  Then I synced.  Or at least that's what I thought.  After 2 hours I had 80 files and then it froze.

I removed the card and inserted it into a usb card reader.  Worked perfectly.  800 files in 15 minutes.  Doing it this way you have to tell MWM player to update the library otherwise it will not see the files.

I have only had this problem for a month or so.  So, why cant I sync to my handheld?

I'm having the same problem with an AT&T Tilt.
JRMJ will sync once, then does not recognize the files again, and tries to resync them the next time.
Also, JRMJ doesn't discover the Tilt at all, unless I plug it in while JRMJ is already running.

I tried to post a log, but it was way too big to post (even just the handheld part).
Any suggestions WRT logs?

I have sent a log to matt at jriver.

o I cleaned existing files from the music directory on the handheld (Internal storage card, folder \conent\music)
o remove all handhelds
o redetect all handhelds
o Add a short playlist (10 files)
o Make sure "remove files from handheld option is not selected"
o sync
o select "remove files from handheld option is not selected"
o recheck sync

---> Files are not recognized (As previously reported by me and *several* other users)

I saw this behavior on my HTC s730 *intermittently* (WM6.0)

Now I have bought an HTC Diamond (WM6.1)
