Play Statistics on Shared Library

I have a shared MC Library, as dicussed here: http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Sharing_a_media_library_with_multiple_users_on_a_home_network_(LAN)

Should I expect my play statistics to update from clients who have read-only access. Logic says no, but then even the Media Server manages to get it right? I am not seeing any updates between the clients at present in the "Recently Played" smartlist.
