Ratings from XMP tags
« on: July 07, 2008, 06:16:16 am »

I tagged some files from my camera using Adobe Bridge at work and then brought them home to add to my pool of photos. I thought that MC read XMP tags now, but in MC none of the ratings show up in the ratings field. I can see them in the [Format] tag but cant search or filter by that tag.

It'd be very useful if the ratings in XMP data were synched with MC's ratings somehow.

MC can read and write certain XMP tags. Specifically, MC reads tags that XMP tags that correspond to IPTC tags, which are part of the XMP "photoshop" and "dc" schemas, but does not include a ratings field.

We certainly would like to include other commonly used XMP tags. Better yet would be the ability to customize mappings between XMP tags and MC fields. But that would be for the future.

What is the ratings tag from Adobe Bridge named? What are the other fields you use? Actually, it would be helpful to get a copy of the format tags listing, so I can see what schemas the tags are under.

Ok. I'll post that later.
The ratings is called "Ratings".

Keywords would be great too, if they are not already included. In Adobe bridge you can have nested keywords and choose which keystroke (/ \ : )will define the heirachy. So it seems possible to conifgure bridge to use the same formatting as MC to show nesting.
