Torturous Songs?

Music has been used in American military prisons and on bases to induce sleep deprivation, "prolong capture shock," disorient detainees during interrogations—and also drown out screams. Based on a leaked interrogation log, news reports, and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, here are some of the songs that guards and interrogators chose.

Mother Jones has compiled a playlist of some of the songs that the American Military used at Guantanamo (among other places).

If you listen to the audio news clip from Justine Sharrock, it has further interesting info about this practice.  Including this great little tidbit:

So one thing that's interesting is that some of the musicians were upset to hear that their music was being played at Guantanamo and Iraq.  So Rage Against the Machine, for instance, sent a letter to the State Department asking them to stop.  But then I read that when Metallica found out they were actually really excited and said that their music was intended to be scary and intimidating, and that if they could be contributing to the war against terror in any way that they were honored.

Hehe, my vote goes for Barni as being *the* most torturous song i ever heard  ;D

I imagine they would get results very quick with not much repeats required.
