Reproducible file update database/filename issue
« on: July 14, 2008, 09:48:26 pm »

this is with 512, but I am wondering if it is helpful and relevant to some of the posted issues.

Steps
1. play a file, then stop the playing but leave it selected
2. change a property that is duplicated in the filename, e.g., album name (in my case)
3. rename file (Note - the file renaming will be blocked and be in a waiting mode because the song is still "playing' even though it isn't)
4. update the coverart (or rather attempt to update) [update means "replace the cover art with a new picture or attempt to add one]

with this sequence (for me) the update of the filename gets lost every time and the database is updated but the filename isnt - link is lost

Hope this simple and reproducible (I think) sequence helps

This will be fixed in a coming build:
Fixed: Changing tags and a filename while a file was playing could cause one of the changes to not get applied.

Also, if you stop playback instead of pause, the file won't be locked.  You can double-click the pause button to stop, or you can show a stop button by selecting this in options.

Thanks.

Matt indicates he's found a cause and therefore solution. But I want to clarify that the problem is not limited to when a track is edited while being played. It just happened (again) to me and I wasn't playing anything.

I changed (fixing capitalization) a track's Artist field. When I moved off this field in the view, MC instantly lost the file. The clue is, this field is part of my Rename/Move folder-file expression, so the problem seems to be that MC is invoking this expression to change the Filename field inappropriately...  :P some of the time...
