I have ordered an Iphone and waiting for its arrival when I got an idea.
What about an Iphone app that acts as a client for an MC server?
You could have unlimited music storage at home and stream anything you like to your Iphone.
A simple version would just allow you to browse through albums or artists etc, while a more advanced version might allow you to make use of smartlists and other advanced features of MC server access.

What do you think? Is it possible at all?

Many countries have got unlimited internet package included plus you could use wifi in case you are abroad for example.

It should be no problem doing so. There is already a program named ORB that stream music and video over the internet. And if you use it over WLAN, like ORB, it would be great and free. The trouble with ORB is that it is another program running on my computer, and another thing to maintain. If I could get an app for the MC i would pay some money for it, and use it every day!

Also the iphone/touch have a program for remotecontrol of itunes. It would be great to have the same for MC.

I have orb and it times out... stops in the middle of playing of music. (including on wi-fi)
I have to keep reauthenticating with the ORB.
It's either the edge network or thru a wi-fi connect...either way, same result.
I think it's because everything has to keep authenticating to ORB servers.....

My work filters ORB so I cannot use wi-fi for streaming (understandable)

I wish I could avoid them all together and just connect to my server directly........

I was hoping JRiver could do this?

Its not a streamer but a controller...
