Media Server & IE Proxy Settings...
« on: May 11, 2003, 09:26:14 am »

I am trialling Media Jukebox on a home network and have the following problem.

We have a Windows 2000 LAN running a MJ Music Server and several Windows 2000 Professional client machines trying to connect to the Music Server INTERNALLY. We are running MS ISA Server Firewall and Proxy Server software.

When the clients DISABLE the proxy settings in Internet Explorer 6 they can successfully connect to the MJ Music Server and listen to music - BUT cannot then surf the web. When the proxy settings are entered in Internet Explorer web browsing works but a lot of functionality is then disabled in Media Jukebox as it tries to use the proxy settings of Internet Explorer. ISA Proxy server uses port 8080 and by its very nature the Media Server needs its own dedicated port - so how are we supposed to accomplish this?

Why does Media Jukebox use Internet Explorer Proxy settings? Shouldn't Jukebox have its own settings, Or am I missing something? Ironically - accessing the Media Server across the internet is not a problem - just the internal network.

Hi Chipmunk,

Check your IE proxy settings. Either "Bypass proxy for local addresses"  should be checked, or the IP address of Media Server should be  put in the "Don't use the proxy for the following addresses" box.
