I like Newsweek, MPR, and Google News.

However, the instant availablitity of every piece of news, mostly bad, doesn't seem healthy.  It's not news when someone goes for a walk and has a nice time.  It is news when they get beaten and robbed on that walk.

This distorts our sense of reality for the worse.

It's all about RSS for me...

NYTimes for the 'Liberal' spin
Chicago Tribune for the 'Conservative' spin

...with a healthy dose of NPR thrown in for when I just want to listen to something instead of reading.

But traditional media? Not for a long time now...

At work I have Reuters and Bloomberg news feeds. Apart from that I rely on http://news.bbc.co.uk/

I haven't bought a newspaper for years and since moving to Tokyo last year I haven't owned a television. There's far too much coverage of so-called "celebrities" in the mainstream press, and far too little serious, investigative journalism. UK TV news is even worse, with all the interviews being with other media types. On the 24 hour news channels there's constant speculation and prediction by pundits instead of real reporting on factual events.

I get my national and political news from the Daily Show.

FARK.com, plus my wife's a reporter and reads 4-5 newspapers in French and English daily. Often though, I'm up on some news more than her due to Fark.

Almost entirely online news sources for me for most things.  I do also listen to NPR All Things Considered on the way home sometimes.  Certainly The Daily Show.  Don't laugh -- there have been lots of studies comparing them to "traditional news programs" that found that TDS actually has more hard news stores with more details than those on the big four networks and CNN!

And, on Sunday mornings I get my political junkie fix on and do the morning show circuit.

All in all, though, for everyday news my primary source is certainly online.  Both "traditional new sources" via their web sites (CNN, NYT, WaPo, ABC, etc, etc, etc) and non-traditional (blogs).

Definitely would say that, by and large, the good blogs are better than the best traditional sources (as far as depth of research, explaining the issues in detail, and digging out the truth).  As with anything on the Internets though, there is a ton of crap so you have to know where to look and read skeptically.

WRAL-TV 5 news podcast via media center.  Then I can play it when ever I get a chance, and not tied to a tv schedule.
