Upload pictures to local gallery -- how can I add text with the pictures?

Seems to me that a while back you could include the comments field (or perhaps it was the notes field) when uploading pictures to a gallery, such that the comments would appear under the picture.  I can't seem to get that to work.

Doh!  I guess that would be what the "Caption" field is for...
