I agree, when I saw Uncle Steve announce their "new, innovative smart playlists" I choked on my soda.  I do like their play count feature, though, and would love to see something like it integrated into MJ8.

You might want to have a look at some of the TrackInfo templates, such as, MJ Luna and Fungal Treatment, that incorporate a play count.
