DO NOT INSTALL iTunes 8

<< < (4/8) > >>

To Glynor:  I am a quality freak regarding audio so I am using m4a types audio on my 160GB iPod. Some weeks ago MC12 started to crash when trying to play these files (i have no iTune instaled). I am looking for another way of playing them than to use Quick Time. Do you hane any suggestions Glynor?

Alex B:
The first post in this thread has a link to another thread. You can find my instructions for using the DC-Bass Source filter for m4a playback in that thread. DC-Bass Source should be able to decode AAC/m4 and ALAC/m4a files.

I always modify the original iTunes installer so it doesn't need Apple's QuickTime (you will need QuickTime Alternative), doesn't install Bonjour, MobileMe, Software Updater, etc...

I made new builds with every iTunes version.

I use Media Jukebox, but i haven't tried to sync my Nano 3rd gen with it while having iTunes 8 installed.

For all of us that need iTunes (i just use it to update firmware), try the installers i make at ajuaonline.com

You deserve a medal!  Thanks!

This is a good breakdown of what Apple includes with an iTunes installation and how to pick out individual pieces: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=554
