There has been a lot of discussion on ITunes in this part of the forum.

Some people have asked for an interface between MC and the ITunes library. One of the problems with this is that you never know what Apple would do in the future with this interface.

My suggestion is as follows: Allow for synchronization plugins in MC. I.e., expose and document an API which developers could make, for example, a plugin to interface ITunes.

Now it seems to me that the ITunes interface is well known. Look, for example at itsfv.sourceforge.net There seems to be a lot of activity in the support forum for iTSfv, and ITunes 8 seems to be supported. A plugin could use the backend, for example, of iTSfv. The continued development of iTSfv would then (maybe) ensure the validity of the plugin.

Now, the benefit of this approach is that JRiver must only do the sw split once, and let someone else worry about the plugin...

(Don't look at me, though, I'm currently using a WM6.1 handheld)
