So since we can not sync our iphone or touch device with MC and are forced to use iTunes can anyone provide tips on how they keep their music in sync.  Specifically when using a media collection that is not supported by iTunes (FLAC).

I know you can have MC use a folder as a handheld device and have it do the conversion.  However that does not send rating or playcount info across, and iTunes does not see the playlists.

This thread has some details on what Glynor and I use.
Basically MC syncs to a hard drive folder masquerading as a device, with conversion to mp3.
Then run iTSfv program to update the itunes database.
Then recreate playlists in itunes that you'd like to see on the ipod.
The only thing it doesn't do for me is update MC with ratings I make on the touch.
I have to sync the touch, then I pull up itunes and MC next to each other.
In itunes, display songs played in the last 1 day.
This shows me the ratings of those songs and then I have to manually update those in MC.

After syncing  my playlists to my virtual iPhone I import the playlists (probably drag-and-drop will also work) to the Itunes (v8) library and voila iTunes imports the files... the trick is to use full paths (m3u works... haven't tried the other playlist formats yet)

Yesterday I discovered how to transfer audiobooks in mp3 format so that iTunes treats them as audiobooks too...

My biggest problem is how to transfer the album art painlessly to iTunes. Now I have to copy and paste... Any ideas on this one?

my album art i stored in same folder as flac files as folder.jpg.
in the settings for syncing to the itouch folder, I have it set to put folder.jpg there also.
This ends up syncing fine to the touch using my method.

Thanks!  I'll give iTSfv a try...
