been trying to build my thumbnails in 13 for 3 days now.. so i can start tagging all my artists and so it works better\faster but every time i try to build thumbnails i get...   





Any Ideas? Or anyone Experiencing The Same Thing?

Could you email a crash log to matt at jriver dot com?

Video thumbnailing happens in JRWorker.exe, so it should be impossible for that to cause crashes in the main program.

In Media Center, go to Help > Logging.

Enable logging to a file.

Restart Media Center.

Get the crash.

Start Media Center again.

Go to Help > Logging, and use the email logs command.

Email the logs to matt at jriver dot com.  Put a link to this thread in the email so I don't get confused.

Thanks for the log.

It looks like our GIF decoder was crashing on a particular GIF file.  The good news is an updated decoder was available that fixes the problem.

Next build will include the fix.  Hopefully it'll be available next week.  Until then, just disable GIF from the import list.

I had this exact same issue trying to build thumbnails and found that if you leave MC while this is rebuilding everything, then you are OK. If I tried to do anything else inside MC, then I would most certainly get a crash.

I tried to debug this with Visual Studio when the crash occurred and the module it failed in was in_mp3.dll passing a null value in. Next time I'll set windbg as my debugger and see if I can get further in the analysis. Are there public symbols available for MC anywhere out there?

everytime Ive auto imported or chose to  build thumbnails. ive not even touched my mouse or keyboard.. or done anything else on the computer. just let it do it's thing.. and it errors out.

just want to confirm after new13 update today.. build thumbnals is working!!!

13 just built 410261 files with ease and no hiccups.. TY For fixen ths!!!

it took 21:42:08  this seem like right amount of time for 400,000 files?

Matt, I arrived at this thread following the link from the "crash problems" thread, which I think will be followed by any others who might have my problem. Having applied the GIF fix, my (re)installation still crashes. I have sent you the related log report, and look forward to any advice you might have about what it might indicate.  Thanks!
