Customization of the Link Bar?
« on: October 30, 2008, 07:12:21 am »

im not sure if this behavior is desired but i think it'd be nice to make it customizable.

when i try to use the link bar when searching through my TV archives, I have problems. Right now the name of the TV show is, say, Friends. When I click a link to search it, it searches for the field in [Name] I presume. This should be customizable. In this case, I'd like to define it as [Series] as the search. The power of this is pretty intense when you consider I could make a searched youtube for the air date of the episode that i'm viewing. or maybe a newspaper for that date. could be pretty interesting. you could search billboards site for various strings or perhaps pull up the year end top 100 chart for whatever year the song you are currently playing was. the possibilities are infinite.

The bar is fully customizable, including using [Series] or any other field.

Right-click it and pick "Customize Links...".

i don't see a way to do it.

first of all, i don't see the linkbar when viewing playlists.

secondly, when i do get the link bar and right click it to customize, it forces me to change every imdb search to the same string. that won't work because if i search imdb for movies, i want it to still go by the [Name] field as opposed to series.

You could add a second, slightly modified IMDB link.  This should be easy.

If you want more power, you can use an expression for the search URL that switches based on input properties of the selected file.  This will be more complicated, since you're writing an expression.
