Dumb questions-- constant hd access
« on: November 06, 2008, 12:46:47 pm »

I recently upgraded from MC12 to 13, and I've noticed that when 13 is running the hard disk light on my PC is constantly flickering on.  My library consists solely of around 25K MP3s.

Is this some kind of maintenance going on? Perhaps updating the tags on my files? It doesn't matter whether music is playing or not, the HD is always constantly getting accessed when MC13 is running.

Any insight would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Probably you have auto-import feature enabled, or it could be building missing thumbnails.
Maybe podcasts if you have any enabled.

You could always use the filemon utility from Microsoft to sniff out what the chatter is about.
It'll show what program is accessing the files and what specific files.

Auto-import was the culprit.  Thanks for your help!  :)
