Image migration from Photoshop Elements?
« on: November 22, 2008, 10:26:01 am »

Up until now I've used MC exclusively for audio.  Love it.  Works great.

Sometime in the distant past I began using Photoshop Elements for pictures and I'd like to move them over now.  Problem is the complex number of collections, tags, dates, comments, etc.  Is there ANY way to automate this?  Or at least reduce the amount of manual work?

Any advice would be appreciated.

What version of PSE?  A while back I wrote a tool that converted the PSE Tags to keywords and the PSE Collections to Playlists.  It doesn't do anything with dates or captions but these should import into MC automatically.  I converted from PSE 5 but it should work with earlier versions too.  I can share it here if you are interested.

Thanks!  As it happens, I'm also using v5 of PSE.  I'd certainly appreciate the sharing, if you're willing!

Are you saying that the Date and Caption fields are stored as metadata in the JPG files themselves?

Thanks again!

Yes.  There are dates in multiple places but I think MC imports the correct one if you have modified it in PSE.

I have attached a copy of the tool but I haven't used it in quite a while so I hope it still works.  It requires the .NET framework to run.  It also requires that the files are already imported into MC (doesn't try to import anything on its own).
