Help -> Logging ...

Check "Output to log file" checkbox under "Logging options".
Make sure "TV" and "Playback" checkboxes are checked under "Types of events to log".

Click OK and run tests.
Go back to Help -> Logging..., click "Click to email log files" link. Alternatively, find "Log.txt" and "Previous Log.txt" in folder "c:\Documents and Settings\[your user id]\Application Data\J River\Media Center 13\" and zip both files and email them.

Thanks for the log files. Everything seems correct from the logs. It maybe another case of device not liking Smart Tee filter that DirectShow automatically inserts.

Would you get good sound if you run time-shifting (I would guess so since you get good sound while recording)? For analog TV devices you can only manually start time-shifting, by either using the Pause button to pause and unpause the video, or using right-click menu.

That is called "time-shifting". It will use some disk space, but will not exhaust your space. You set a limit on how much data to keep - it can be as little as one hour. You can pause/resume, seek forward/backward.

OR

explain time shift tht u were pointing.......,

Open "TV Options" property pages. Click "Recording" tab. Choose a Recording Profile, but you may be better off creating a custom recording profile - by clicking Add button and follow the wizard. Creating a custom recording profile allows you to select your own video and audio compression methods, if available.

You can change how much data MC keeps during time-shifting, by changing the value of "Time-shifting window". It defaults to 5 hours I think. You can change it to 1 hour if you have limited hard disk space. I can even tell you a registry value to change so you can make it below 1 hour if you really lack space.
