I've noticed this problem every time I go to install MC and have to browse for the license file.  In the 'browse for file' dialog, all file and folder names are showing too far to the left, and overlay the icon for that file or folder.  It looks like the names need to be bumped to the right about 10-15 pixels or so.  This also happens when clicking File > Open Media File although that's not how I personally usually play my media, at least this way you can see what I'm talking about..

All looks normal here.
I'm also pretty sure that that dialogue is a standard windows "open file" dialogue.
Are you using a 3rd party windows skin?

Or maybe it's an XP vs. Vista thing?
I'm using XP-SP3 here.
