It's Better!

>> it's better?
Yes

Really Besides All That Someone Said There Is No CBR Setting, So It Is VBR (And Thats Better Anyway To Save Room Without Losing Any Quality).

I Guess You Can Go To The Ogg Site And See The History\Big Fixes To Fine Out What They Did For The Final Release.

"Thank's King here i go to encoded my library again arghh hehe"

Instead of re-encoding everything, try encoding just a few tracks with the new version of OGG and see if you can even tell the difference.  Unless there is a huge jump in the level of quality, chances are that you won't be able to hear the difference between the old encoder and the new one.

Disc space is also my problem.  I would love to use APE, but I only have an 80GB drive and over 2000 cds...not to mention quite a lot of vinyl I would like to convert.

Matt,

Didn't you recently say that at some point APE would not be backward compatible and recode would be in order?  Or did it just relate to ID3 tags?

It's thought that old drives taken out of service are off-gassing and that the zeroes are contributing to the damage to the ozone layer.

But they're working on drives that work with only ones.  Hopefully this should double the storage capacity as well.

Ah. Makes sense. but thinking about it some more, there has to be more capacity if they switch to using all zeros not ones?

zev,
Drives are losing their zeros.  It's bad.  The end is near.

But it might begin again.  And it could be better.

This sounds a lot like a kind of religion, doesn't it?
