Theater View Search
« on: December 09, 2008, 06:41:52 pm »

I'm trying to set up the Theater View search option, it seems that the search always lists all the tracks matching the search criteria. I'd like to:

If searching for Artist - show the list of artists, drill downm to albums, and then tracks
If searching for Albums - show albums, and drill down to tracks
If searching for Name or All - show tracks

Is there a simple way of doing this ?

I do have a view scheme that groups the artists and allows a drill down, but would also like to do the same with the search function.

How about a "Clear" button next to "Backspace" ... to quickly remove any search string present rather than backspacing?

Theater view is pretty cool. Never played around with it til now and I'm impressed.

We tried that, but some users felt it was confusing having both.

I don't know how anyone could get confused but OK. Theater View is XML based ... correct? Is the Clear function coded but commented out? I'd like to re-enable.

So no XML hacks?

What is confusing is that the keyboard button 'Backspace' doesn't actually perform a backspace but moves back a view when typing into the search.

Sure does. Tends to make the keyboard great for getting search text in, but lousy for removing it quickly, leading to cumbersome searches. The on-screen keyboard should compliment the physical one ... not replace it.
