Can the functions that prepare the cover art for the lower-left display area be separated out, perhaps into a thread?  When I start a song, there is about 2 - 5 seconds of unresponsiveness while MC prepares the cover art.  This is likely because I use large 1200x1200 pixel cover art.  I'm reasonably sure that the problem has become worse recently.  The display area before didn't include the reflectivity.  If I remove the reflectivity fancy effect, it doesn't have the delay.
