First burn, first coaster...HELP please!
« on: July 20, 2002, 06:36:44 pm »

I've just created a Smartlist as follows:

~t=74 genre=[Jazz Vocal]

Sent it to Playing now to randomise (is there a better way?)

Then sent to the burner.

Just before the end of the burn I get:

A device error occurred. Error number is 1022
Error data is: KEY: 5 ASC: 24 ASCQ: 0

Say, what?!?!?!

P.S. Don't ever snap a CD-R in half, in disgust.  Shard, shards of broken plastick fly everywhere, and you get a lovely snowfall of foli flakes.

Can you burn just a few files as a test?  If not, try the FAQ here.

Hi Jim,

Your'still up and surfing.  I'm doing a test burn now with only 57 minutes worth.  I'll see hopw it goes.

PS.  Still no firewall or CDDB.  I suppose I'll have to wait till (your) Monday for a response?

Jim,

that worked fine.  I notice that my CD player reports a couple of more minutes on the CD than MJ did for the Playlist.  Did I not allow enough for inter-track gaps?  How much do I need to allow?

There is some overhead required.  MJ should tell you but we may not have it right.  KingSparta did some testing, but I don't recall exactly.  Try 10% of disk space to be safe.  Then try 5% and so on.
