Is there a change in DVD naming convention with .114?
« on: January 30, 2009, 10:33:48 am »

My ripped DVDs (drive:\DVDs\movie name\video_ts\files) are now all named "video_ts" after import.  Is there a setting I should change so I can keep the same folder structure without having to manually tag the movie name?

Yes, go to Options > File Location > DVD ripping folder rule.

Try putting [Name] in there (see below)

The changes probably are related to this but they were causing me problems.  So our problems switched.  I spent an hour last night trying different things and found this seems to fix the problem you've got.

Addition: actually, you need: [Name]\VIDEO_TS
in the box.

I don't use the VIDEO_TS folder inline with my files and that is causing me some problems.

Thanks...but that didn't work.  Name still imports as "video_ts".  Perhaps I should change the Folder Rule or Filename Rule.  I guess I'll have to play around with these settings.  I wonder what the rationale was for this change?

Fill properties from filename...use that.  Then try those strings.  With the proper one, it will work.  Try one at a time.

[Name]\VIDEO_TS

That is very strange because adjusting the last video option under Options > File Locations fixed it beautifully for me.

I should take this opportunity to apologize because this change has fixed countless problems and did seem strange.  The problem was that if I had auto import changed, it would always go through and rename my DVDs to "VIDEO_TS" on every scan.

I did not include a "VIDEO_TS" folder containing the files before but now have changed to add this folder.  I wonder if that was the reason for my problem earlier.

WITH or WITHOUT the VIDEO_TS folder.  THAT is the QUESTION.

Thanks for this tip, worked a treat. In answer to your question.. If you've got a DVD library that is also shared with My Movies, then the answer is "with VIDEO_TS"
