You may not have installed on your computer DirectShow filters for decoding the type of file you are trying to play.
Please install appropriate filters and try again.

I cannot play .wv files. They work fine with foobar. Any idea

Direct show filter at
http://www.wavpack.com/downloads.html

Though the input plugin from mcplugins.sourceforge.net should work, it does in my MC12 and MJ12.

THANKS for the input but I don't want to use any filter. It quickly becomes a real mess with directshow, core...
As you said, it should work out of the box with the plugin installed.
Am I missing something?  :-[

Some info on one of .wv file :

Format : WavPack
File size : 21.7 MiB
Duration : 3mn 43s
Overall bit rate : 815 Kbps
Format : WavPack
Format profile : 4.06
Duration : 3mn 43s
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 815 Kbps
Channel(s) : 2 channels
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Resolution : 24 bits

Compression ratio : 2.826
Stream size : 21.7 MiB (100%)
Encoding settings : -h -hh

Can 48 kHz / 24 bits be the problem?  :o

I use Asio4All drivers and output is set to Asio in MJ12...

While I don't use ASIO 4 All, I run native ASIO (my sound card drivers support it) and if the source file is not the same bitrate etc. as the ASIO settings, an ASIO error will result- file won't play. You can either:

1) go into the playback settings and resample the file to 16 bit 44.1 kHz (which should allow it to play using ASIO but will use processor power)
2) change the ASIO settings in your driver to 24 bit 48kHz
3) or stop using ASIO and use direct sound or wave out.

If none of these help, the issue is not likely to be related to ASIO (I'm guessing it is).
