Has anyone replaced Beyond TV with MC?
« on: March 04, 2009, 11:04:43 am »

I currently use Beyond TV and leave it full screen so that when we turn on the projector and I select the computer on the remote, I can watch some shows.  But I can't toggle between two apps, (without going into VNC on the laptop) so I can only pick one: Beyond TV or MC. If we listen to music, we have to VNC in, use MC, then remember to turn it off.  I would thus prefer to use only MC.

I still have lots of research to do about how to get MC to work with Canadian tv guides, IRs, satelite dishes, etc., so if anyone out there has made the switch, or if anyone out there uses MC as a TIVO in Canada, please chime in. I'm looking to see if it is possible, and if so, how difficult it would be to set up.

Hi Lise,
You've probably been all over the wiki, but try the XMLTV link on this page:

I use mc2xml at home and it's automatic once it's set up.  Setup just requires putting the program anywhere, running it and answering a few questions.  I'm not sure whether it's available in Canada.
