Normally I load my MP3 Player (Sansa) with files selected via a smart list and then transfer the files to the connected device. (I have a smart list called "2GB for Sansa", which selects prefered music to take on the road). This works flawlessly.

When I do the same on a client connected to my libary server, I can select the files using the same smart list, transfering works as well. However, when I try to play these mp3 files on my Sansa they seem not to be there. Nothing to play. However checking the Sansa I can see the files. The Sansa drive is full. Only the files are not mp3 files. The mp3 extension got lost.

Is this by design or jut a bug? Anything I made wrong?

The settings are probably those of the server.  Double check them.  Conversion options may not be correct.

You have MC running on both the client and the server.  Make sure conversion settings are what you want on both machines.  When you use Library Server, you're using all the settings of the library on the server.

You could test by syncing on the server first, then try the client.
