Home Theater PC (HTPC) Progress Report
« on: March 14, 2009, 05:05:09 pm »

I had lunch today with some friends.   They were talking about hooking up stuff to their TV's.  I said we were pretty happy with what we can now do when we connect a PC to a TV and run MC13.  Many of you know what I mean, but for my friends, I put together a couple of picture galleries (below).

The biggest changes in the last year have been a much improved Theater View (our ten foot mode) based on the new Obsidian skin, and improved support for the Microsoft Media Center remote controls.  The combination makes using an HTPC much easier.

Here are some screenshots of our ten foot mode, Theater View, running a PC that's connected to my living room TV:

And here are two videos of how it works.  Apologies for the low quality images, but I tried to keep the size reasonable.  It's still 40MB for the two combined, so you'll need a good connection.

Have to agree that there have been some great improvements, especially in the last couple of months.

MC's gone from being barely acceptable to very accomodating very quickly (and even that sounds worse than I mean it to)

A few more tweaks like custom News, Theater View Plugin doco etc will have MC13 right at the top of the list - and by a margin too.
