DVD playback. Purple/Pink screen?
« on: May 01, 2009, 12:03:49 pm »

I loving the newest update... most things seem smoother now!

I'm trying to play a DVD... and either from disk, or from TS files on the hard drive, all I get it a purple/pink screen...

They DO play in other software...

Do I have my codecs in a mess?   Is there a way to remove ALL codecs and let MC install what it needs?

Try changing the DirectShow filters.  See the wiki (link above) for details.  CCCP usually works.

This likely is an issue of video renderer selection and or video decoder selection.

Tools > Options... > Playback > Video > DVD playback settings...

Choose a video renderer and a video decoder.

The video renderer order of preference for most people should be:

Enhanced Video Renderer
Video Mixing Renderer 9
Video Mixing Renderer 7
Haali Video Renderer
Legacy Video Renderer

In some situations Haali maybe preferable to VMRs.

Video Mixing Renderer 9 did it right away...

I was unable to use the Enhanced Video Renderer... I guess I need that software package.

Thanks!

Enhanced Video Renderer is available on Vista or later, or on XP if you install .NET 3 (or 2 I forgot).
