Autostart Media Server from Standby/hibernate
« on: May 25, 2009, 01:06:10 am »

Hi All,

I've configured my MC for starting with windows but when my PC comes back from standby or hibernate the Media Server is  not started.

Does someone has an idea for doing that?

Thanks

In latest versions of MC13, there are startup options added for this purpose.  Please double check your settings.

Thanks for the answer. I've double checked but I only found options for starting MC when windows starts but nothing about sleep/hibernate.

Could you please point me out the exact configuration section?

Thanks

Startup options determine whether Media Server starts or Media Center or both.

Resume from sleep would just put you back in the original state as when you put it to sleep.  There are no separate settings.

I sse thanks.

So if the same option deals with both fresh boot and sleep mode, this means that there is something going wrong on my MC.

Does someone faced the same issue?

This is something important because I never shutdown my computer. It is always in sleep mode when not used.

So now it means that I can not start my MC from sleep mode with my remote. I need to go back to the keyboard.

Anyone has an idea?

Thanks

You don't really say if you're using Theater View or not? Assuming you are, avoid using the "Sleep" or "Hibernate" options under the "Exit" theater view menu. This actually closes MC AND Media Server (which is probably not what you're wanting or expecting).

If your remote has a dedicated "sleep" or "standby" button like the MS Media Center remotes, then use this instead. This will leave MC alone and place you back where you were when the system wakes up.

Cheers.
