Turning off animation and other effects

How may I turn off the UI animations e.g. on button mouse over, and other display effects such as the gradient fills? Thanks.

You could try changing to a different skin.
Are you talking about Theater View or standard view?

I've found none that acheives this. Is there a Windows Classic/Trad skin I missed?

Which view are you using?  Theater View?  Standard View?
