It has happened for few .ape files. These are not album songs but private.
I add song to playlist and update tags (I have not yet added to the library).
When I update year field. It seem to take it. Then I add the song to library,
year is missing. I update year field again, close MJ12, restart it and the year field is missing.
I check the file date and it definitely indicates that file was not updated
when I updated the year field.

I am sorry that I did not hear anything on it. This is happening again. I have done some more digging.
It must be doing something to to the file header itself. I copied file to a different drive,
changed its name, dragged it to playing now, changed year. I don't see date/time of file chaneg and the date
field is again empty. I am willing to send out those files for debugging. Please don't ignore me. Thanks.

There is an option to write the tags to the file.  Try setting it.

1. If you are referring to options -> General -> Update tags when file info changes, it is checked. I have 6400 .ape files and tagging works
    perfectly in keeping information as part of the file. It is only with a handful of .ape files, all fields are updataeble except for "year".
   I took offending file to naother computer and again, "year" field could not be updated. I want to remove tags and try to redo tags
   but that is not possible. See item 3 below.
2. I checked Help and looked at topic "Save Tags in Disc Files". Item 2 asks to check for each field, "Store in file tags (when possible)".
    I did not find any field named "year" in the standard list. I did find field "year-album" and checkbox is greyed out and is not checkable.
    Only audio box on left side is checked.
3. There does not seem be capability to remove tags even though Help topic says. Selected file in question, right clicked and
    selected "library tools". There is no option to remove tags.
