AVCHD Lite - problems
« on: August 02, 2009, 03:28:33 am »

Hi

I have just got myself a panasonic lumix which recoeds video in the AVCHD Lite format.
When I try to open the .m2ts files MC13 crashes?
I have also noticed there are secondary files associated with the .m2ts files.... .tmb .cont .iis do these need to be associated in MC13?

Do I need to download codecs?

Any help would be great -thanks

It would be worth trying MC14.  It's at the top of the MC14 board.

I can play them in mc14 using the ffdshow audio and video decoders just fine:

tools > options > file types > avchd video (m2ts,mts)

playback method > j. river video engine

source filter > automatic

other filters > ffdshow audio decoder; ffdshow video decoder

MC14 installed but still no joy.

Some of the avchd files come up with a music icon and some with a movie icon, neither will play.

If i try to play the m2ts file with the music icon MC14 hangs and I have to kill it with task manager as it becomes non responsive.
if I try to plat the m2ts file with the video icon the progress bar moves across but o video or sound.

Both these files play with the PHOTOfunSTUDIO HD Edition software bundled with my camera. ?

You may be missing some DirectShow filters.

Try reading about DirectShow in our wiki:
http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/DirectShow_Playback_Guide

CCCP often solves problems like this.

In MC's tag, you can edit the media filetype, but if MC imported a video as audio, it probably means it couldn't find a DirectShow filter that would work.

You may need to google m2ts.

You can also directly import the mts files from your camera with acquire images by adding mts to the types to aquire in the options menu for acquiring images. You only have to do this once. This is how I import them into mc from my pana t7.
