"Ipod can not be properly identified" - But it works
« on: August 14, 2009, 07:47:17 pm »

Every time I plug in my 80G iPod Classic, MC pops up a warning saying that the iPod could not be identified. But, after closing that warning, MC works fine with it. I can sync and I can browse the device from the Drives and Devices tree.

MC 14.0.46
Win 7 x64 (hoping for 64bit shell extensions!)

Sounds like the same thing as this:

However, we haven't been able to reproduce it on any of our Windows 7 boxes.

I have the same problem but i'm using Windows XP. I have two iPods, a nano and a 80g Classic too and the warning appears for both. Sometimes it reappears randomly while synchronizing. And i haven't been able to make large sync with conversion (like 40Go) since, after an hour or two J River crashed or froze.
These problems have started since version 14.0.34.

Did you install any third party plug-ins around that time?  Do you use any?

I'm only using the last.fm submission plug-in. I played a bit with the UPNP plugin and my PS3 but i haven't used it since a month or two.  The UPNP server is closed.

I tried a sync with my firewall and antivirus closed, the "ipod can not be properly identified" message kept appearing.
