Hi all I am new to the whole JRiver Media Center and I am considering purchasing it but I am having some issues with trying to get my WinTV-HVR-950Q tuner card to work.
I have tried just about everything I can think of to get this thing to work.
Uninstalled it - re-installed it
Uninstalled mdiacenter - re-installed it
updated drivers
removed the whole wintv program and just installed wintv-hvr-950q_wmc-kit for my 950Q

It won't recognize the analog card I get "failed to initialize tv tuner device"

Any help would be appreciated

More info about the issue I am having with the 950Q, This device works perfectly in Windows Media Center which I do not want to use since I have set my PC up with MC 14. I have pasted the logs below. In the logs it does say the device is in use but I don't know with what or how since the PC is freshly booted and nothing else is running.

Any updates on my issue, really want to purchase this but this could be a show stopper.

Sorry.  I do not have a definite answer yet.  All I can say is I will keep working on it until it is fixed. 

From the information you provided, the device looks quite normal and should not require any special handling.  Therefore it is quite puzzling that the simple step of rendering video on the device would fail.

Yeah that is why I am asking not sure why it would not work in MC14 but it does in Windows Media Center?

Any updates on this I just upgraded to the latest version of MC 14.0.61 and I am still can't get the TV tuner to work?

Not sure what else to try. I have gone through my startup to see if the drivers were loading and being used by another process and I don't see anything. Still trying to figure this out.

Card works fine with the software it came with and in the defualt Windows media center.

I am having problems whose symptoms are identical to profzoom's. I realize this thread is OLD, but I just purchased the wintv hvr-950Q brand new from Best Buy today. There is no resolution posted in this thread... but I'm hoping one exists.

My setup:
Win 7 x64
MC 16.0.49

FIXED:

So, there are 2 possible reasons why my wintv hvr-950Q is working with MC now. Like a bad troubleshooter and documenter, I made 2 changes so I have no idea which was the actual solution, but here it goes:

1. I used WMC on win7 x64 to setup my tv channels. TV worked ok in WMC (although I did not want to be stuck with WMC and MC).

2. On the Media Center 16 Beta thread, there is a link for MC 16.0.54. The thread mentioned that this most recent version had native support for m4a files, which is why I downloaded it. So, I upgraded from 16.0.49 to 16.0.55 (the file said .54 but the "about MC" says .55)

So, now in MC > Options > Television, I can select the digital tuner and the configure button works. I can on the left sidebar of MC select Devices & drives > Television, and it found my channels.
