Cover Art doesn't display on UPnP device (Playstation 3)
« on: September 05, 2009, 07:28:26 pm »

When I use my PS3 as a UPnP device to play music, the cover art does not display.

Note: I do have the option set to display visual content. And I can display pictures and watch movies. It's just that the cover art does not display for the music.

Also note: if I use another product (PS3 Media Server) the cover art does display.

There was a guy here who made a description of the settings needed for this a while back. Try a search for PS3, UPNP and such within this year maybe?

The PS3 works fine, but no configuration that I can work out will have the cover art display. I can display the .jpg files as pictures, but no cover art for the music. Also, I do have the cover art embedded in the files.

I did more searches on this subject. According to this thread the cover art is not supported yet. It's on the list.

If the cover art is embedded, and you don't see it, that means that the firmware on the PS3 doesn't support embedded cover art or doesn't like the format/size.  You could try updating the firmware or you could try searching on google.

The PS3 does support it. I have other software that uses the PS3 as a UPnP device. When I use that software the embedded cover art displays just fine.

I've been following the subject, but searched again just in case there was a solution. COuld not find any.

There are other software options that do display the cover art, but they cannot compare to MC in usability. Everything else I looked at navigates via following the directory structure. This is very painful when you have a large music library. MC's navigation follows the views you've defined. This is a significant advantage and well worth the trade off of not seeing the cover art.  But I would still like to see the cover art displayed.

Randy,

Do you have an older version of MC installed somewhere to isolate if it's related to MC14, MC in general, or possibly specific to the PS3 in some way?

Scott,

I only have MC14, but before that I had the same issue with MC13. So this is a general issue.
