Dear Ms. Milkman, FCC
« on: August 26, 2009, 04:01:37 pm »

I sent the FCC a letter this week:

August 24, 2009

Ruth Milkman, Chief
Wireless Telecommunications Bureau
Federal Communications Commission
445 12th Street, SW
Washington, DC 20554

Dear Ms. Milkman,
As CEO of a software developer of media products that work with Apple's iPod, I would like to comment on the current investigation of Apple's rejection of the Google application.

I believe that Apple systematically works to exclude third party developers of products it believes are competitive.  For example, with the most recent products, the Touch and the iPhone, the database is encrypted so it is difficult or impossible to gain access to it for the purpose of updating the media on the device.  This has caused my company serious financial harm.

With an approximate 70% share of the media player market, I believe Apple should be regarded as a monopoly and should be required to provide reasonable access to vendors providing the products that Apple's customers wish to use.

Regards,

Jim Hillegass
CEO

I would suggest that everyone that feels the same way go to the FCC web site, (sorry don't have the link) and have your voices be heard.  It does not always have to be the the CEO of a company.  The main page of the FCC site will have a place where you can click to send a note to the head of the FCC.

Hope I am not crazy about this, as I have done it for other reasons and I believe that what I have written here is correct.  As to whether or not it helps, that is for someone else to decide.
