FIND a song within Playing Now?
« on: July 08, 2002, 11:03:19 pm »

How do I find a song within my Playing Now list?

Say Playing Now contains 200 songs.  I want to add a song as the next to be played.

I could search Media Library for the song, then right-click and Send To > Playing Now - Add (as next to play).  But I don't want to end up with two copies of the song in PN, if it's already in there.

So...

(1) I could do a find or search against Playing Now.  If I find the song, I could use 'Move to' to make it the next song to be played (see http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/interact/NeoBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Board=inter&Post=11885&BoardIdle=7&SortingBy=0&BoardOrder=Descend&Page=0&UserSession= ).

or

(2) MJ could provide a setting to delete the extra copy when a song is sent to PN, and is already in the list.  This is getting too esoteric and downright ridiculous, not to mention that you may want to keep the extra copy sometimes.  So ignore this number (2).

Is there a way to search or find against Playing Now?

Hi Scronch

use QuickSearch: CtlQ

this brings up a small dialog and you can type in what you are searching.

F3 will repeat the search again and again

After I use Quick Search once, it is then grayed out on the menu.  Why?

MJ8.0.320.

Not sure.  Does Ctrl|PLS|Q followed by F3 work?

No.  ctl-q does nothing.  F3 jumps down one song at a time, meaning that my search string has been lost (I have restarted MJ several times).

Here it works perfectly (320 and 321) . Which version are you using?

Why, suggest what most support techs do, format C drive and reinstall everything!

No! Seriously, how about just reinstall Media Jukebox over the current one?  Sounds like possibly the dialog box is still open but not visible. Is it off screen or behind another window?

I don't get the faded menu item, so I can't help much.

MJ 8.0.329 has improved this, but still a minor bug:

Clear Playing Now.
Highlight a smartlist, Add to Playing Now.
Click on Edit menu--Quick Search is grayed out, even though I am in Playing Now.
In the Playing Now window, click on any song, even the one that is already highlighted.  Now in the Edit menu, Quick Search is available.

I think this is some sort of window focus thing.
