ShoutCAST revisited ...
« on: September 14, 2009, 11:42:30 am »

I'm still on v12 using EdCastV3 (aka OddCast) standalone version with MC and the plugin with WinAmp 5.6x. Both work very well (using serverroom.com as shoutcast server) tho the standalone casts all computer sounds and at this stage doesn't handle metadata. WinAmp works perfectly except that its WinAmp, which is playlist based with no Playing Now, so adding files after play starts or making dynamic list changes breaks playback at the change point. Back on the positive side, the plugin allows WinAmp to be muted, so that stream can be listened to on MC on same comp, with no feedback. So ...

1) Does MC 14 (or a plugin) improve things in this regard? Is it able to cast to a shoutcast server yet with full metadata?

2) Can Media Server cast?

3) Can the WA ShoutCast-EdCast plugin be hacked into MC in any way?

4) Is there a way to capture metadata from MC12 or later using EdCast's "Grab Metadata From Window Title" as shown here?

I've read through the older threads. The web page method of creating then extracting the metadata is overly complicated ... surely there is a better way ...

Go to the plugin manager and get one called WRITE PLAYING.
There is a setting in that plugin to change MC's window title bar to the track info.
This could then be configured in oddcast to grab the complete window title from MJFrame.
