Nex II (CompactFlash-based MP3 Player)?
« on: July 08, 2002, 10:35:56 am »

Who has a Nex II MP3 player?  Comments?  Likes and dislikes?

I'm looking for a good/great MP3 player that is using CompactFlash memory (not Smart or MMC or whatever...only interested in CF) and works well with Windows 2000 (USB).

This Nex II looks very promising, but would like the get some MJ user feedback...Thanks!

ZRocker,

I picked up a Nex II about 2 weeks ago and have been very happy with it.  This is my first player, so I really have nothing to compare it to (so take what I say with a grain of salt).  I too required a CF player and the list was pretty short to choose from.  I remember considering the Diva for a while, but it seemed to be out of stock.

Pros
----
- Great price
- Supports Type I and II CF cards
- Supports MP3 and WMA
- Long playing time on 2 AA batteries (I still haven't had to change mine yet; I've heard to expect about 15 hours max)
- Fairly active Yahoo group
- Shows up as a removable drive in MJ

Cons
----
- Included headphones did not fit my head well; plan to buy a new set (I've just ordered some Koss Sporta Pros)
- It's not the "prettiest" player
- It's not the smallest player.  Right on the borderline for active use (i.e. jogging)

Overall I give the Nex II high marks.  For $88, I couldn't ask for anything more.

Hope this helps...

Hi Zrocker,

Chris said it all, I also have a NEXII and I am very pleased with it.
It's not full of bell & whistles but it does its job pretty well and
it's really worth the price. Plus I often use it as a portable
disk drive to carry big files (with a 512 MB CF) between home
and work.

have a nice day,

Christian

Thanks guys!!

I got mine this morning and LOVE it (and I'm picky!!).

Still can't get MJ8 to see it in CD, DVD, & Handhelds...but I'm working on that right now.  Win2000 Pro sees it fine as a removable drive (via USB).
