Hmmm, a little shy in the description department.  I hope the wordsmith didn't strain a neuron! :-)

Question on this:

Redetect devices is an option under Handhelds/Portables. It will discard any history of devices and start over. This should be used with caution since your settings for the device will be lost.

Does this mean settings for ALL devices are lost, or only settings for a single device?  If one must redetect because 1 of 3 devices has problems, then settings for other two devices are lost too?

I'm not so convinced MC actually does discard all history.  I just added a new disk as a virtual HH device.  I configured the settings, and will use a brand new HH cache (via stack).  So then, why does MC decide that the files shown are "Duplicate"?  How can that be?  The new disk and new HH cache are empty.  Recheck sync comes back with the same results.

And why is a CD ("Monster's Ball") included in the sync list?  That makes no sense, does it?

What happens when one selects files from the sync list, and hits Delete?  What is actually being deleted?  How does one clear the sync list, and add just a set of files to be synced?

There should be some commentary on that.

There should be some explanation as to what the Build HH cache does.  As I mentioned in another thread, it is a not an option, but a command - and starting a long running command from within an options dialog is very weird.  I think it would be much cleaner to move the Build cache command to the right-click context menu of a given HH.

I completed an HH cache conversion, and sync'd a playlist with the virtual HH (disk).  The directory structure for the cache is correct.  I used the Files & Paths->Audio Path rule:

[Album Artist (auto)]\If(IsEmpty([Disc #],1), [Album], [Album] Disc [Disc #])\

However, I found that the files on the HH itself were not stored in the folders based on the rule specified above, but rather, were stored under what appears to be [Artists]/[Album].

If not the Files & Paths->Audio Path, then what rule/option location specifies the HH's directory structure?  Is this a bug, or what am I doing incorrectly?

This is answered in another thread:

If you add CDA files to a playlist, they'll be imported.  Just pick them and delete them from the library.

If you can reproduce CDA import when it shouldn't happen, please provide a step-by-step.

I think we can assume inadvertent user error in this.  I have no idea how I did it, or how it occurred.  I know when it occurred; it was when I was trying to create a sync list for HH conversion and things were going horribly wrong.  The USB disk stopped responding, MC was stuck, and had to be killed.  When trying to remove items from the HH sync list, I lost a good portion of my CD database, and had to revert from backup.  Perhaps there was some corruption in one of the DB files?  Who knows; but all is well now.
