TV Channel Scanning Failure in version 8.0.318
« on: July 07, 2002, 04:56:53 pm »

Does anyone know how to successfully carry out a channel scan
with version 8.0.318 and an ATI TV card running under Windows 98 SE.

When I try to conduct the scan as directed the program will not
open and leave open the list to select channel location. Also, once the selection box is open nothing else in Media Jukebox will respond to a click. I have to end task to get out of it.

Any suggestions or cures will be greatly appreciated.

This seems to be related to the other reported problems of MJ dialog items not responding.

Until the problem is fixed, you can use the following work-around:

Open registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Music Exchange\1.0\Media Jukebox\TV Settings
and edit the DWORD values "Country Code" and "TV Tuner Input Type".

Set "Country Code" to 1 for United States, or other corresponding value for your country. Set "TV Tuner Input Type" to 0 for Cable, or 1 for Antenna.

After this you should be able to use TV normally.

Thanks Yaobing for the suggestion.

I got the type set but need a Country Code for Canada or the Atlantic Provinces if it is different.

Do you, or does anyone happen to know the number I need to insert.

Can you try build 8.0.320 now in a thread on Interact?  The problem should be fixed.

Country code for Canada is 1 or 2. Microsoft documentation lists Canada under both 1 and 2 :(. I use 1 in the program and hope it works for you.

You mean Canada is not part of USA?

As Jim mentioned, the problem should have been fixed in build 320.

I downloaded an installed Build 8.0.320 as suggested. There was no change. The scanning problem still exists.

I checked help about mediajukebox and it still said 8.0.318. I accessed in through the link in the message here on interact and again
by going directly to the home page. I uninstalled each previous version before installing what I thought was 8.0.320.

Any sugestions as to the problem(s).

Your download was probably not successful. Did you try to write over the older version while downloading? Sometimes I found it would not work. The download program asks you if you want to replace existing file, you answer Yes, but the program returns in a second, saying download has finished. However the old file is still there. You have to try again to get downloading going. So it is a good idea renaming the older file before trying to download.
