Feature req.: Whatever shortcut marks file in TheaterView
« on: October 12, 2009, 05:36:22 am »

Instead of playing a file instantly I would prefer having the space bar marking a file - e.g. if I need to play several files I would "space bar" them and they would play in that order ...

I like this idea, but it doesn't really jive with the whole 5-button remote concept.

Do you know you can already select files in Theater View?

Press enter on a file, pick 'Select' from the roller, and hit enter.

To select additional files, tap enter twice on a file. (it will show the roller, and the default choice is 'Select')

Matt, remember how you used to be able to enter "Select Mode" and simply use the right arrow to place check marks beside items (in list views)? This was a heck of a lot less tedious than how it is now, ie, having to hit Enter twice each time and jumping in and out of the large info panel.

Could we have this behaviour back please? Enter could still do what it does today but while in "Select Mode", right arrow would act as a shortcut for selecting items rather than duplicating the function of Enter.

Space is used for Play All today. So this would only move the problem to another place. I think there has to be done a whole lot of thinking here to be able to prevent entering the Large Info view all the time, and still get the wanted functionality and consistency.

Someone played with customizing the shortcuts on their own? I think it's possible to map keys to what you want if you edit some of the MC files? I'd like to use space as Play (add as next to play) :)

would have done it - but there would need to be a command here http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/Media_Center_windows_messages but it isn't.

I'm not talking about mapping the remote, but a way of hard coding what the keyboard buttons do. I thought it was possible, but I have not been able to find text files with this data yet. Maybe you need a MC command for it anyway?

Did not find Play (add as next to play), but maybe this would work for selecting?
